Dominican Republic - Summary of Requirements

The following protocols for exporting animals to the Dominican Republic are available through the International Regulations Retrieval System (IRRS).

SPECIES - MOST RECENT UPDATE

Cattle

For export live cattle to the Dominican Republic, please contact the National Center for Import and Export at (301) 734-8364, or send an email to VS.Live.Animal.Import.Export@aphis.usda.gov.

The Dominican Republic has informed the NCIE that bovine semen collected prior to May 17, 2008, can be exported to that country.

NCIE has received a statement from the Dominican Republic authorizing the exportation of bovine semen if it was collected prior to the date of the outbreak of Malignant Catarrhal Fever.

Pets

For species not listed, the requirements are not known. However, exporters wanting to ship livestock or germplasm whose requirements are not listed in the IRRS, should have the interested party (importer/buyer) in the country of destination apply for an Import Permit at the appropriate ministry. This Import Permit will most likely outline the specific requirements.
