International Animal Export Regulations

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these regulations for exporting animals or animal products to a foreign country, you should contact the APHIS-VS Area Office in the State from which the animals or products will be exported.

Israel - Summary of Requirements

The following protocols for exporting animals to Israel are available through the International Regulations Retrieval System (IRRS).

Live Fish for Aquaculture,  and Ornamental Fish:

            The Israel Model Veterinary Certificates to Accompany Fish and Gametes or the certificate for ornamental fish must be issued by an APHIS-accredited veterinarian and endorsed by the APHIS Veterinary Services Area Office.

            A voluntary monitoring at the exporting establishment must be active for at least two years, with at least one sampling/year performed by an APHIS-accredited veterinarian, using an assumed pathogen prevalence of 5% for determining the numbers of fish to sample.  Samples must be tested in a laboratory using assays that have been approved by APHIS for the aquatic pathogens (if applicable to the species involved) that are listed in the Model certificates.

For species not listed, the requirements are not known. However, exporters wanting to ship livestock whose requirements are not listed in the IRRS, should have the interested party (importer/buyer) in the country of destination apply for an Import Permit at the appropriate ministry. This Import Permit will most likely outline the specific requirements.
